The Korn Krib is housed in Knutson Campus Center. This campus convenience store offers students many options when they are eager to find a quick lunch before class. One woman who played an important role in the Korn Krib was Paulette Dixon. A woman of many talents, she has worked in several areas of the College: the Post Office, Office of Global Education, Campus Information, and the Korn Krib. During her time at the Korn Krib, she made a lasting impression on the students. Many students caller her the "Korn Krib Mom." Paulette taught many students life lessons based on her past experiences. The students felt they could confide in her because of her sincerity and trustworthiness. Desiree Lindbom, a Korn Krib worker, said, "You can tell Paulette things you wouldn't tell your mother." (21)

Paulette helped with "Mission Nutrition," a program that was developed to help get students eating better. Paulette made better decisions about what types of nutritious food to put on the shelves. More faculty and students were looking for healthier lunch options. The Korn Krib adopted skim milk, soups, and reduced fat meals. Paulette and others that developed "Mission Nutrition" welcomed feedback from the students because ultimately they were the ones eating the food. (22)

Paulette was a very thoughful lady and she showed it. A few times her "thanks" and "congratulations" were posted in the college newspaper praising students for their achievements. She congratulated the Cobber football team on their win against St. John's College (23), congratulated the Music Department and the Concordia College Band on their wonderful music performance (24), and thanked the Percussion Ensemble for allowing her to drive their truck and letting her listen to such an entertaining group. (25) Paulette thought highly of each student and wanted each of them to know it. That was one of her many caring qualities.

Paulette and her husband Mark were recognized in April 2008 with the Ole & Lucy Flaat Distinguised Service Award. This award recognizes people for their outstanding and longtime service at the college. In an article posted in the college newspaper, students said that Paulette always came to work with a smile on her face and was always willing to help anyone out. International students at the college often found comfort with her and her husband because they welcomed students with open arms during the holiday season. Mark Krejci, vice president of academic affairs and dean of the college said, "it is appropriate to give this award to two people because of the Dixons' dedication to the college." (26)
