Hello darling:
I just got your letter today and what make[s] you think I’m dutch? I’ve always have [sic] been an American. You know I would like to be home in time for your recital but I think it will be impossible although no one ever knows. You know what darling? The weather’s so hot down here. I am writing this letter with nothing on except a pair of shorts and shoes and still I’m warm. Boy how I’d love to go swimming or do most anything as long as it is with you. It seem[s] that I had a good time no matter where I went or what I did when I went out with you. Dancing with you was just like dancing with an angle [sic] and going to the show was swell

to[o]. Darling when I get out of this army I’m going to learn how to dance and we’ll go every night or once in a while [sic] any-way. Darling the way you write you think that I don’t love you but I do. With this new bunch of recruits it’s been hard trying to find time to write but I’ll make it some way. How is your grandmother and all your family? Are they all ok [sic]? You haven’t mentioned anything about them for a long time. How about having a date with you sometime in July or August to go swimming and then dancing? (Answer please.) Well I got to go now and don’t every change darling because I love you just as you’re. Good night, darling.

Howard.

P.S. Can’t write much because everything is [illegible deletion] restricted. (I love you isn’t.)
