Hello darling:
Well darling I guess you think I forgot all about you but I didn’t. You see, I had to go back to the feild [sic] to finish up some training before I leave on furlough. By the way, you can expect me home this week some time. I don’t know just what time but it will be this week. Darling I’m sorry I didn’t even get you a card for you birthday but if I go and get on to morrow [sic] it will be too late so I’ll come home instead and wish you a happy birthday. My furlough won’t give me much time

at home. No longer than five days at home anyway but I told the company commander that I’d take it even if I could spend one or two day[s] at home. Well darling I love you so very much and you don’t know what you mean to me. I would have to break my teeth at the assualt [sic] course [illegible deletion] and by the way I feel like I broke more than that. Well darling I love you and I love you more. Lot love

Howard.
