Hello darling

I didn’t sleep a wink last night and thats [sic] not the name of a sog either. I got to thinking of you and I don’t know why but I just couldn’t go to sleep. Well darling I went to the chapel this after noon [sic] to see the Catholic chaplain and I’m telling you I wasn’t too brave but he wasn’t there. The soldier he left in the office said that the twentieth Armord Dir. [?] is

putting on a big Mother’s Day program in Hopkinsville to day [sic] and that he was there so I didn’t get to see him but he told me to come back around [?] to morrow [sic] after noon [sic] and he say [sic] that he thinks he’ll be in. I hope so anyways. Darling after I see him and find out all I need to know do you want me to post pone [?] my furlough until a later date that if y furlough comes up too soon? Gee darling I’m so mixed up. I don’t even think you’ll be able to read this letter. Darling there are some questions that I’d like to have answered. Will you try to answer them for me?

[Page 3]

If we get married on my furlough time will be limited and I’d like to know when we’ll go on a honeymoon and because a ten day furlough means a day and almost a half travel both ways and traveling conditions the way they are well you know what I mean. I hope I have some thing [sic] good to morrow [sic] to tell you like seeing the chaplain. Gee darling I love you so much it won’t be my fault if we don’t get married this time

[Page 4]

although I think I’m getting the best of the bargain. Darling you don’t mean to say that Ozzie passes his physical. Well maybe he figures six months of married life will make him a 4F again. I think thats [sic] why he’s getting married. No kidding darling. I think he’ll wait until the war is over before he gets in the army. Gee you know it’ll seem good to write Mrs. Howard Sarty instead of Miss Yvette Langlais on the envelope. I can dream can’t I? I love you with all my heart and darling I want to marry you in the worse way. As ever

Howard
