Hi Yve:
Well here it is: the April fool’s day and no luck. I went to the first Sgt. [Sergeant] to day [sic] and asked for a furlough and he blew up, so when he finished I said April fool, then he was mad. Well darling I go up at five o’clock this morning and marched out to the range and it sure was hot. I was teaching them how to shoot all day and then I came back about an hour ago so I had a busy day. Gee I wish it was summer back home and I was at camp for about one day just to see how the change could feel. Well I haven’t given up all hopes of getting a furlough
[Page 2]
so keep your chin up and maybe I’ll make it some day. Well honey I love you just as much and as in many languages as you can write, in fact more. The mail man asked me when I was going to get married because he said I don’t think a girl would write you every day [sic] if she didn’t love you and he said anyways I don’t know what she sees in you, so I told him it was none of his [illegible deletion] business and he said well if you feel that way about it, then he stopped. Well darling I better close now. I love you and I wish I could see you. Lot of love
Howard.

P.S. When are you coming down to see me?
