Hello darling:
Well darling I guess we’re both in the same boat. I got a cold to[o] and I’ve been taking pills to[o]. It isn’t warm down here anymore. Yesterday we had a snow storm. I think I caught my cold because the weather changes so quick. Darling you don’t want me to come more than I want to come myself. If I had my way I’d be home now. Yve, I’m going to town Saturday to see if I can get a card for your grandmother. Last night I tried all the P.X.’s [Post Exchanges] and I couldn’t get any. Darling what do you want for easter; I mean what kind of flowers? Well to-day [sic] I had quite a lot of work to do. I had to straighten out all the
[Page 2]
book[s] that haven’t been touched for about a month and one-half. And in looking over the gas ration sheet I see where the trucks in the company used one hundred and eighty gallons of gas last week. What we couldn’t do if I had a furlough and that much gas in one week. Then I had to go to a meeting of all the clerks in the regiment at Headquarters Co. and then I had chow. Well at seven o’clock this evening I had to attend a movie at the regimental shop all about the cooling system of a[n] army motor..(such is life). I got back to the bunk at about 9:30 and now I’m writing a letter so you see I still have a full day of work. Darling [illegible deletion] I’ll be home some day [sic] so wait and pray for me to get a leave and maybe that will help. I sure hope it will anyway. I feel dandy to-night. I got the letters to-night [sic] and darling I love you more everyday if that[‘s] possible. As ever
Howard.
[The following was written as a postscript.]
P.S. I love you darling as ever.
