Hello darling:
Well it[‘s] about time I started writing again don’t you think? I’ve been so darn busy lately that I haven’t had anytime at all..You see it’s the last week of the recruit[‘]s basic training and there’s a lot of finishing up before they get shipped. I’ve been wanting to write for the past two days but Wednesday I slept and [sic] in the woods and Thursday I stayed up and had to go out after a ½ track at two in the morning. I wish I could see you again. It seems so long since you and I were together and yesterday when I asked for a furlough they told me no
[Page 2]
so I guess I’ll have to wait. The top kick or (first Sgt.) broke his arm playing baseball Tuesday so he isn't in a very good mood. Well we had another [day] of hard work but tomorrow looks so it will be a day of rest. So far we haven’t got a thing to do. If they want me the will have to get me out of bed. Gee darling I love you so much that if I don’t get home pretty soon I [will] go nuts. This army here is enough to drive anybody nuts. Darling I’ll have to close now but don’t forget that I love you and tell me if you still love [illegible deletion] me. I don’t want a one sided love affair. Good night darling and think of me once in a while [sic]. I love you
Howard.
