Hi darling:
Well I’m just getting over the train ride and I’m getting so darn lonely that I wish that I never came back. I guess it [is] no use of wishing because it won’t do any good. We should of got married while I was home because it [is] going to seem so long until I get home again. I got to do a big washing to night [sic] darling. Don’t you envy me just a little or don’t you care? Darling it [is] so hot hot down here that if we mixed the air up there and down here to-gether [sic] it would be about just right. I just wrote a letter to Norman and gave him the idea that I won’t come home on furlough every wee. He said
[Page 2]
in the letter to me that every time he hears about me I’m home on furlough and he said I was lucky to spend most of my army time at home some people have funny ideas, huh? Darling do you still love me as much as I love you because if you do I’m coming home again next week and [sic] get married. Then we both can live happily ever after in the guard house [illegible deletion.] or something. I’m, oh I forgot to tell you that Kalas almost died when he got the card from us and he still thinks that we did do it it [sic] so I’m going the [sic] let him go right on thinking. I love you so much that I can’t wait for this war to end. I hope it ends soon. Well goodnight darling and [I] will write to morrow [sic] when I get a little time. I love you with all my heart. Your loving husband
Howard.
