Hello darling:
Well how are you to-night [sic]? Gee I wish I could be with you and I didn’t mean it like it sounded in that letter. In the letter it sounded like I didn’t like ohm life with you. Well in the dream I wasn’t married so that accounts for that. Well darling we had quite a lot of excitement down here over the weekend and I was right in the middle of it so I guess I’ll have to

begin at the beginning. Well Saturday afternoon the company commander restricted the company because most of the old men of the regiment had to ship out to India to guard German prisoners. Well that was alright but things got kind of mixed up. You see, they lifted the restriction and I went and got a pass to go to town because Ted asked me to go swimming with him. Well after we got the passes they restricted the company again so we went to town. Well this morning at first call the top-kick

came out and called us out of ranks and we took a trip to see the company commander and he gave us a speech about leaving the post when your [sic] not supposed to. I said Sir I have a pass to town signed by you and it states that I can be absent from the past and I was right [illegible deletion] but I new [sic] I shouldn’t of [sic] gone. Well the office just came out of school and he didn’t say much but the first Sgt. said. “Cpl [Corporal] Sarty and Sgt. Heitzman you will be restricted to the company

for two weeks.” We told him we didn’t mind because we never get off duty until about nine o’clock and where can you go after that? So then he said you’ll be in the co. area next week end [sic]. I got [sic] to work for the next two weeks anyway so I told him it didn’t bother me at all. He didn’t know what to say so he said that’s all and we went. Well honey that [is] about all that happened to me except I love you more and more every day and I’ll always love you. I wish I was home with you so I would never have to [illegible deletion] leave you. I love you darling.
Howard.
