Hello darling

Well its [sic] me again and I’m even still more lonesome. Well that bivouac we took this morning wasn’t exactly what you call a bivouac. Here I am at Mammoth Caves. We’re bivouacking about two miles from the big hotel at Mammoth and the C.O. is going to have us go through the cave and now they are having a big party but darling I miss you more all the time. I just came out from

swimming about a half hour ago and I feel kind of sleepy but out side [sic] of that I feel fine. Darling I[‘ll] let you know all about it to morrow [sic] night and maybe send you a few pictures of the cave or a travel folder or something. I wish I could send myself though and then everything would be perfect. Well darling I got to say good night now because the capt. want me to take him back to the bivouac area and I can get this letter off in the mail. I love you and I’ll write tomorrow night. Until then. I love you very much. Love

Howard
