Hi short, blonde + beautiful,
How’s my little gal to night [sic]? Gee I miss you a lot, sometimes too much. Well to day [sic] was one of those long drawn days that you think will never end but of course they always do so here I am. I was up to the office to day [sic] and I heard the captain tell the first Sgt. that there was going to be a fire drill to-night [sic] at 23:30 (that’s eleven thirty P.M.) and he wanted every body [sic] out of the barracks and that’s where I began to

laugh. The capt. turned around and asked me what I was laughing at and I told him that you will have to ring that fire alarm awful loud to wake me up because I live about a quarter of a mile away from the barracks then he turned to the first Sgt. and said excuse this man from the fire drill. A new fellow came in to the [illegible word] from Mass. To day [sic] he said he was from Waltham [?] and darling the candy was swell and thanks a million times. I love you so much but I’ll have to close now because this is my last sheet of paper so good night for now darling and I’ll be thinking of you always. I love you.
Howard
