Dear Yve,
Are you lonesome[?] I am but there is nothing I can do about it. I got the candy you sent me. It was swell. Well darling I’m lost without you but with you I would be sitting on top of the world. (I love you) I went to the show last night and saw the (True to the Army) it was pretty good. Do you want to hear something that is pretty good[?] Well they got all the boys out of the barracks and made them eat the grass and dig out all the weeds. We had to do all this and all we had was mess kit knife (some fun eh).
[Page 2]
Well what are they doing back home[?] I got a box from my [illegible deletion] Mother and Dad but I didn’t get any letter but I guess it allright [sic] (notice all the buts). How is your mother getting allong [sic][?] Yve darling I love you so much it terrible to think I have to wait so long for a leave. Will you marry me in the summer or winter time let me know. How are you getting along with your sheets. [D]oes your Mother of [sic] Dad know about you buying them. It must seem funny to see you doing thing[s] like that. I would like to see you in the store but I have to wait. Write and tell me if you still love me as much as ever. Love
Howard
