Darling Yve,
I got the box and the cookies were swell, you didn’t forget my candy either. Well I got the letters and the box of cookies [F]riday and I had extra duties until 9:30 [F]riday night so I didn’t get a chance to eat any until Saturday. They gave us our money and after they deduct all that they can you got about 20 buck to last you for the month. [E]ight for insurance 2 for cleaning 1:50 [sic] for laundry. [S]o what a fellow going to do[?] The [illegible deletion] captain gave us a speech that about wanting us to put some of our money in defence bonds and stamps. Then if we

had any left we could put it in the banking system they have here.[A] lot of money. I would have to somke [sic] on or by [sic] ice cream with if I did way thing they wanted to huh. Well I had a few picture [sic] taken and sending you a couple. I keep sending you some until I find a good one. You said something about the guest house. I checked that angle and got to make plans about 2 or 3 month [sic] ahead of time to get in there. [B]y that time I might by home I hope. Well I love you more than ever and I hope you don’t forget it. I didn’t get to town because it makes me feel awful home sick [sic] even going to a show makes me fell feel like going home (our home). I’ll be seeing you darling I love you. I love you. Wait for me darling. Love
