Hello darling,
I know its [sic] been a long time since I’ve written to you darling but it just couldn’t be helped. You see we went out on a bivouac [F]riday and just got back this morning and I’ve been running back and forth from camp to Clarksville all day to-day [sic] getting barracks bags for the new boys that came in. They told me they were all recruits but they all outrank me. Its [sic] seem[s] that we got to give combat training to all N.C.O and all of them have at least three years in the army. Most of them that came in to-day [sic] are at least

a sergeant or better. Oh well that’s enough of that. Gee darling I love you so much and gee the day go so slow sometimes I think I’ll never get home. This last weekend I guess I’ve missed you more than I ever did since I’ve known you. You don’t know (or maybe you do) how much I miss you and love you. Darling Pepper is down here now talking furlough and what he is going to do when he goes home and he don’t even know if he[‘s] going to have a furlough. I think talking about going home makes it worse of course that all we talk about any way but gee darling it make[s] me miss you all the more. I love you darling and I’m awful tired to-night [sic] so I guess I better get some sleep. I love you Yve. with all my heart and I really mean it to[o]. Good night darling. As Ever
Howard
