[The following is written on official United States Army stationary]

May 28, 1944


Hello darling,

Well here it is [S]unday and I miss you more all the time. Gee darling sundays are more lonely than the other day and gee I wish I could see you for just a little while. I got your letter with the recital program in it and this year’s recital seems to be your best. I wish I could go and darling I wish you all the luck. Let me know how it was. Darling its seem [sic] like you get less time every day to do any thing [sic] down

here. Monday th[e]y are starting N.C.O. school for two hours every night and I got to go and after that come the instruction so you can see where my time goes. Besides all that we’re going to have a big inspection by the 2nd Army big shots but the best part is I get a furlough. Well darling I don’t know if I can make you happy but I love you so much that I can’t be happy with-out [sic] you. I love you. I love you and darling I’ll promise to be very good. As Ever
