July 1, 1944
10:15 P.M.
My darling Wife,
Here I am sitting down at the desk looking at you and thinking how nice it would be to be home with you now. Gee darling I miss you more every day, and it seems this war will never end. Gee honey I love you so much and I can’t be with you but we’ll be so very happy when this war is over and I can go home again. I got a letter from you to day [sic] and I love you even

more and I’m sure that there would be enough room on the couch for the both of us and maybe a little extra and as for sleeping at the foot of the bed it was my fault. I shouldn’t of [sic] drank all the beer that I did. I’m sure it won’t happen again.Well mummy have you been a good girl like I told you and not work too hard or are you just going to do what you’ve always done and when I get home you won’t even weigh 90 lbs. Darling please don’t work too hard? I wouldn’t want anything to happen

to my wife. Well we didn’t do very much to day [sic] except have an inspection and everything passed so I guess the CO is happy. Everybody has left for town to night [sic] and nobody has come back yet. & so its about time I go to bed and get a good sleep. I love you so much and I must say goodnight. I hope I dream of you to night. [sic] Your Loving Husband,

P.S. I love you twice as much as I did the day I married you.
