Kevatron Building/Television Center

The Kevatron Building was built in 1959 to house an ion accelerator or “atom smasher” that was too large and dangerous to be housed in the physics lab. The building has been referred to as the Atom Smasher Building and the Atomic Research Laboratory. The Television Center occupied the building from 1968 to 1985 until the structure was razed to build the Olin Art and Communications Center.
