Hi Eve.
I feel good to-day [sic]. I just got three letters from you. One dated the 17th, one the 18th, and the other one the 19th. So you see that there’s a hold up [sic] in the mail somewhere between here and home. Well so much for that darling. I haven’t written a letter for about three days because I didn’t have time. Your [sic] probally [sic] getting tired of the excuse (no time) but it’s the truth. I got up in the morning Friday and I worked all day at six o’clock I had to go on guard and chase prisioners [sic] until nine o’clock. I got off of that detail just in time to

walk my post for two hrs. [hours] from ten to twelve then I went to sleep until about 3:30 in the morning and walked another two hrs. It was like that all day Saturday. Well I got off guard about six thirty saturday [sic] night and was put on a gun detail that took about three hours so by the time I had a shave and a shower it was eleven o’clock Sat. [Saturday] night so figure it and from Friday morning at five o’clock till Saturday night at eleven with only three hours and a half sleep. Well that wasn’t too bad because I thought I was going to have Sunday off and sleep be cause [sic] the to [sic] kick [superior] said I wouldn’t have to

work . Well about five fifteen sunday [sic] morning the top kick wakes me up and tell[s] me I got to go and on the range be cause [sic] there [sic] short one coach to on the firing line so I have [sic] to go and I didn’t get back in till seven Sunday night and when I did I went to bed. Darling I love you so much it hurts. I wanted so much to write you and then I was so darn tired I couldn’t. I got the box of candy and it was swell. Gee I don’t know what to think. I haven’t had a letter from home and I’m wondering

what’s up. I wish they would give me a furlough. I’d even go home before I got my teeth as you know the ones they made me wouldn’t fit so I had to give them back to them all. The guys are saying that that [is] what [is] keeping me on this side of the ocean, [illegible] you know, no teeth. Well I get them some time I hope, but I would even go home without them. Well darling I got to go on C.Q (change of quarters) tomorrow night and tomorrow I got a meeting I got to attend for all the non. comm. [non commissioned officers] so I [have] been quite busy but I [will] write again tomorrow night. I love you and hope the war ends soon. I love you.
Howard.
