Hi Darling:
How are you to-night [sic]? I got your letter telling me that you couldn’t come to see me even if you wanted to. I could of told you that a long time ago. Now you know how it is when I ask for a furlough and they say no. Here it is eight-thirty and I just got my rifle belt and rifle cleaned for guard tomorrow night. I didn’t know what I’ve got that makes me walk guard so many times. I never miss it. I’m invited out for Thanksgiving dinner to a young couple‘s house named the Downward. [T]hey are very nice people.
[Page 2]
Me and Sandy went to their house and had a swell time last sad night and they took us to the club. Real to in [illegible] one of the clubs where all the big shots go. When the war is over I’m going so far away from this camp it won’t be funny. Last [S]aturday after noon [sic] me and [S]andy had our picture taken in our long under wear [sic]. You know in these. [deletion of a sketch of long underwear] Well I send you a picture when I git [sic] them back Darling. Darling I love you and when I get home we will make up for a lot of thing[s] that we missed. I love you [D]arling and when I get mad at the army I’ll go over the hill and see you. Your Hubby to be
Howard
P.S. you will be my wife won’t you???
