Hello darling,

This is just a few lines to let you know I’m still lonesome for you. Gee darling I love you. Well darling I’ve seen every thing [sic] now, out of the hundred and twenty five fellows that left this week one fellow got taken off the shipping list and he got taken off on account of him being yellow. I didn’t beleive [sic] it but on his service record it says just that. Gee I know nobody want[s] to fight in this war but it take[s] a very poor man to admit that he’s

too yellow to fight, oh well there[‘s] all kind[s] of people in this country. Well so much for that. I got to go out in about a half hour. I think its [sic] the new recruits coming in on the train. Gee you know they always ship them in at night. Gee I wish I could be home recital but I don’t know. I’m coming when I get a chance even if I miss the recital. Well darling its [sic] ten o’clock now and I got to leave so I’ll finish writing to morrow [sic] maybe something exciting will happen before then. I love you darling and always will. So darling good night and please think of me. (I love you) As Ever

Howard
