Service is a fundamental component of student life at Concordia. Even in Concordia’s early years, students would visit the elderly, ill, and disabled to lend comfort and assistance. Today’s Cobbers are involved in many service initiatives such as Habitat for Humanity and Justice Journeys. Habitat for Humanity takes place over Spring Break and sends students all over the United States to lend a hand building houses for those who need them. Justice Journeys also typically span Spring Break, but they have a specific mission and theme (ex. Racial and Economic Justice in Ensenada, Mexico) to fulfill during their time. For many years, Volunteer Services produced an annual Dance Marathon that raised money for local Fargo-Moorhead organizations including Hospice of the Red River Valley, Clay County Development Activities Center, and the Rape and Abuse Crisis Center.
