Well I’ve just added another country to my [travels?] over here. I just came back from Italy. Don’t worry I just went to a very little part of it through the Brenner Pass. You’ve heard or [sic] the Brenner pass haven’t you darling, well that is about 150 miles from where I am so a [little?] [illegible] to me there I cant [sic] tell you why but I’ll tell you it was very beautiful country and
[Page 2]
I saw the old battle ground [sic] of [illegible] which and the places I was not so long ago. Darling I [sic] sending Norman & [illegible deletion] Pauline a little note but you didn’t give me norman [sic] [Rank?] and I don’t know his home address so if I don’t hit the right grade you take the blame huh. Gee darling I’m so tired to night [sic] but I’ll feel better after I get some sleep. I got a lot of wind burn and my eyes are kind of sore from the wind too but that
[Page 3]
isn’t nothing that a good night [sic] sleep won’t cure. I read in the stars & stripes [sic] (thats [sic] our newspaper over here) where the 86th has landed in New York so I guess norman [sic] will be home earlier than he expected. I don’t want you to get your hopes up but I may have a chance to get home in Aug. but don’t count on it. I love you my darling and want you so much but I’ve got to wait my turn and darling I must say goodnight for now
[Page 4]
but remember darling, I’ll always love you. Your four (F.) husband,
Howard
[The following is written as a postscript.]
P.S. Maybe I’m not as fast as [Ozzie?], but I [sic] rather be me. (I love me too.)
