Dear Mummy,
I love you I love you I love you more. Thats [sic] the way I feel right now. I’m supposed to be on bivouac to night [sic] but I guess I [am] just plain weak. I got out to the bivouac and got over come [sic] by the heat and then the pill-roller brought me back to camp, but I feel ok now. I wanted to stay out with the rest of the guys but I’m glad I got back to the barracks. I got a nice long letter from Betty to day [sic] and I guess she [sic] ok but she gets to [sic] mushy with me.

[Page 2]

You say in your letter that you just took a bath and feel drowsy and that if I had my arms around you you’d sleep so peacefully. Well my darling I doubt it because I’d probably keep you awake. Darling I wish the war was over so we could have that three room apartment together I know we’d be very happy and gee darling I love you so. Well darling I guess I’ll say so long for now but remember I love you so very much and keep praying for the war to end. I love you. As ever,

Howard
