Mummy darling, I got your letter to day [sic] with the letter from your uncle Eddie in it and every thing [sic] h said about you is true. Darling about you coming down I think you’ll be able to come but to be sure wait until I see if I can get a room. I’m going in to town Sunday and [to] try to get one. I’m pretty sure of getting a pass but I [will] tell you in sundays [sic] letter. Ray’s wife is coming down the ninth so if you come you’ll be here then.
Same day 9:30 P.M.
Well I just came back from

a class of “ News of the day” and it’s very disappointing. They try to tell you the war is going to last a long time yet but I don’t see how it can last too long. Well darling we [have] got another busy day on the range to morrow. [sic] To day [sic] I [was] made expert on the tommy gun. Well I got to close now I love you and want to see you more than anything. Love,
Howard

P.S. I’m running out of ink.
P.S. I love you more than that [Draws an arrow back up to the word anything]
