Dear Mummy,
Well how’s my little darling to night? [sic] I love you more and more every day and I’m so lonely now I could go over the hill (AWOL) but I guess I won’t seeing that your [sic] coming down to see me soon. Darling about that finger of mine its [sic] tan now and it don’t [sic] look like I just got married but I feel like it was only yesterday that we got married. Well I hope this war is over pretty soon. I [am] getting sick of living a single life and the army was never meant for a guy like me anyway.

Yve now you know what I mean when I say when you see Miss Conners cross the street and save a lot of time. She’s a little nutty but harmless as you probably know but she can talk you deaf. Well darling I’ll be able to let you know to-morrow [sic] when to come I love you very much darling and I think of you all the time. I’m very sleepy now so I guess I [‘ll] turn in. I hope I have a nice dream about you to-night [sic] but if I don’t remember I love you. As ever,

Howard
