Howard tells Yvette's parents that she has made it here safely and thanks them for letting her come down and visit him. Yvette writes to her parents in French telling them what she and Howard are up to and lets them know that she will not be returning until Sunday.

Dear Mother + Dad,
While Yvette is getting ready for bed I’m going to thank you for having allowed her to come see me. We are having a grand time to gether [sic] so it was worth that long trip. I also want to thank you for that nice box of cookies Yvette brought. I brought them out in the field and they certainly tasted good. I’ve been pretty lucky in getting quite a lot of time off while she’s is [sic] here, but she’ll probably tell you about it later. So I say good night [sic]

Je viene d’ aller à la messe et ammuniè et aprie mèdè j’ai une engagement paur aller àu thèatre auec duex autres fernives. Howard peux avair une autre passe à la fin de la maisan alars je vais restè jusqu’au dimanche mide. D’ l vieu à tare les sairs à 6 heures et naus saupans ensemble. Tare dis que je suis rendie si lains il vaudrait bien que je reste jusqie à dien. Je vais dirn. Je vais envagè des artes au èlèves mais Dad vaulyez vaus dire à una nauvelle qui viens dien. D’ attendre une semaine. C’est fin rien faire et avair un mare paur payer. Jai eveare tautes l’ argent daus ma petite pache. Je vaus airnes tauter (can’t I)

[English Translation of Yvette’s letter]

Dear Parents,
I just went to the museum (boring), and this afternoon I have a commitment to meet two other women at the theater. Howard was able to get another pass (at the end of the week) so I am going to stay until noon on Sunday. He comes back every evening at 6:00pm and we eat together. That said, I have become so [illegible] he’d like me to stay until Sunday. I am going to send postcards to the students, but Dad, can you please tell my new one, who’s coming on Sunday, to wait a week. It’s great, having nothing to do and a husband to pay for everything. I still have all my money in my little purse. I love you all very much and am always thinking of the four of you, even while I’m having a lot of fun. I will no doubt be back on Monday, sending kisses to all. I love you,
