Hello darling,
I’m sorry to hear that your [sic] so blue because I feel pretty good. I got time off yesterday and got to a little town called Lebanon, Tenn. and tried to call you up but I tried for about three and one half hours with no success or what ever [sic] way you spell it. So I went and bought some paper to write you on. You see we have a day of rest and I didn’t get up
[Page 2]
this morning until around nine o’clock. Some of the boys are about to take off again to day [sic] but I’m going to stay out in the country and sleep lazy ain’t I? Darling I wonder if Phil will get along with his girl any better this time. I know I wish I was back so we could go places a[nd] do things to gether. [sic] Well half pint there’s nothing new happening around here. Nobody knows nothing [sic] and I don’t think they care.
3 hours later
Well darling I feel very
[Page 3]
very good now and I’m going down the brook to take a bath. A lot of the boys called their wives and they came out with the cars and took them to town. Gee darling I miss you so darn much and it seems like ages since I’ve seen you and to think it’ll be another month before I can think about a furlough. Well darling I’m going to close now but I’ll write later I love you very much and I need you. As Ever,
Howard
