Hi darling:
I just finished doing my washing and am [sic] plenty tired. Something broke down where they were doing our laundry and they don’t know when it will be fixed so for the last two weeks I’ve been doing my own washing and ironing and am getting good even if I do say myself. (I love me.) I just had an [sic] Johnson’s roller skates and was skating around in the shed and his skates are perfect. Johnson just left to raid the icebox in the mess hall seeing that to night [sic] is his turn to be the raider. Well I still love you and I wish that I could see you again. I don’t know what to do with myself any more. Darling [illegible deletion] buddy just brought me back a western sandwich and a

bottle of milk. He also brought back a half dozen oranges so I guess the both of us will have enough to last us until breakfast. Darling it[‘]s funny. I eat all the time and I don’t weigh any more than I did last summer. Well honey I don’t know much to write about all I do is work, eat and sleep and in spare time I write to you. I had a funny thing happen. A girl in Washington wrote to me and wanted to know if I would write to her. You know, a pen pal. I sent her a card which said I would like to write to you but I have hardly time enough to write to my wife. Darling I’ll have to close now so keep your chin up and until we meet again I love you with all my heart, if I have a heart. It seem[s] that was taken away from me about four years ago. Love
Howard.

P.S. I love you.
