Hi darling: Well how are you to-day [sic]? You probaly think it’s funny that I’ve haven’t written to you lately but it [is] only because I’ve been through a week of (hell) last week. I had to use that word but it’s the only way I can express what that week was like. And I’m telling you that a week on field rations doesn't do a man much good. I haven’t got the time to explain it right now but I’ll tell you all about it when I see you and I hope that’s soon. Darling thanks for the box of candy and I sure enjoyed it
[Page 2]
when I got back from the field I had a card and three letters waiting for me and you must of [sic] had a good time. If you didn’t you should have. Well I’ll tell you this much that during that week of combat training I was going under machine gun fire and between that and land mines [sic]. I’m a wreck and on top of that I had to go back and break my teeth that I had so they call me toothless again. OK [sic] well I can’t help it any way. Honey I think I’ll be home shortly. I went in to see the old man this morning and it will be either this next week or the week after. Well darling I got to [sic] go and until I see you I love you very much and I sure miss you. Lots of love
Howard.
