Title
Letter to Yvette from Howard, May 6, 1945
Description
Howard talks about going to church, then reminisces on how mail being slow seemed so awful when he was at Fort Knox, but now he knows it will eventually arrive. He talks about his desire to be back home and how hours and months seem as long as years.

Dearest darling wife,
Here it is sunday [sic] and I haven’t been to church yet, dont [sic] you think I’m awful? They may have church this after noon [sic] and I’ll go. Just think three years ago I was at Fort Knox and wondering weather [sic] you forgot all about me because I wasn’t getting any mail and now I don’t get mail very often but I know it will catch up in time. You know darling that three years didn’t seem half as long as this last three months.
[Page 2]
Gee I wish I was back across the ocean again. This country we’re in is very pretty but there’s no place like home. Well darling have you got an apartment pick [sic] out yet or are you going to wait till I get home. I wish it would be to morrow [sic] that I get home but it [will] probably be a long time yet. I love you so much darling every hour away from you seem [sic] like a year. I got to leave now but remember darling I love you and I hope I see you soon. As Ever,
Howard
