Hi Darling:
I sure love you and I want to thank you for all the nice presents like the picture of you the best of all. [I]t really is beautiful but that tank spoils it but I see you still think a lot of me anyway. How did you know [D]arling that I needed a [b]illfold because thats [sic] just what I wanted. I still like the picture the best. You couldn’t of sent me anything that I wanted more than that

picture of you. Darling I love you so much I can’t hardly write. I keep looking at your picture and gee I love you. My sisters Evie and Bette each sent me a card with a two dollar bill in it and my dad and mom sent me a card with another two bucks and Art Bark & Butch each sent me a card and my [b]rother Bill sent me a nice letter from Camp B landing Flo. and Phil wrote from Virginia and I sure feel swell to know that every body [sic] thinks of me [D]arling. Gee I can’t stop looking

at that picture that you sent me. Darling I hope to get home for [C]hristmas but I don’t think I’ll be able to. But there [is] just a chance that I’ll be able to get home on furlough either before [C]hristmas or after Xmas because I went and asked the Co. Commander about it. Darling I hope the train fares aren’t any higher if I do get to go get home. Gee I got to go to the dentis [sic] to-morrow [sic] which I don’t want to but you never do what you want to in the

army you just do what your [sic] told. Its [sic] getting darn tough down here. I pulled K.P. one day C.Q. the next guard the next. I work in a P.S.O. detail the next day. I did all my work in the office at the motor park on Sunday that life in the army and if you have any spare time they will find something for you to do. That just a little if I have to go to noncommission[ed] offices School so I don’t have time. I love you [D]arling and always will. Love
Howard
