Darling:
How are you to-day [sic] after the big holiday? I bet pretty good taking every thing [sic] into consideration. I went to the show last night and saw Seven [D]ays [L]eave with a few of the boys. [T]hat was the best part of the day. Don’t believe anything you see in the movies about army life because it’s just [the] opposite I know. Well honey how would [you] like to go skating to-night [sic]? [B]oy I sure would like to go. Darling I love you. Why is it that
[Page 2]
my brother can get a leave and I can’t. Shall we say we’ll go to the midnight show [N]ew [Y]ears. I have a feeling I’ll be home or better yet we’ll go to a [N]ew [Y]ear dance so don’t forget it [is] a date. Don’t worry if I get home. I won’t change my mind about it so all I have to do is get home. I’m listening to Harry James and his band on the little radio in the office. Did you ever hear him play Stardust? Well [D]arling I got [sic] to leave you now. I miss you [D]arling and I love you. Love
Howard
