Hello [D]arling
I just got a couple of letters from you to-day [sic] and it sure made me feel good. Well [H]oney I went to town last night to see what it was like. Well the town is about one block square and it was the biggest town between the camp

and Nashville. Well I won’t go to that town anymore. My buddy Sandy had a couple of glasses of beer and the cops put him in the brigg. I went and tried to get him out and they told me I better get out of there or they would take me in there too. In Tenn. its [sic] a dry state and no drinks are supposed to

be sold. Arent I must be a bad boy don’t you think? [W]ell I didn’t do anything bad so I guess I’m OK. Gee I wish I was home for the [F]iremen[‘]s Ball. I thought to be good with Shey Fulds playing and with you. Well as you say I guess I have to wait for another year. My folks sent me some cards and my [illegible deletion] pop sent me
[Page 4]
one that he must of [sic] bought himself because my mother would never send anything like that. Well [H]oney I love you. I [L]ove is a funny thing you know that? Well I can’t think of anything new just now so I say good night [sic] and go to bed. Yes [D]arling I lost five pounds in the hospital. Lots of Love
Howard
