Dear Yve, I got the box of cookies and they weren’t hard or broken, but very good. I know because I’m eating them now. Well [D]arling I didn’t write [M]onday because we were out all night and last night we were on a twenty-five mile hike and I’m telling you I didn’t think feet could hurt a person so much. I guess its [sic] because I haven’t done too much walking for a long time. You see
[Page 2]
everybody had to make it and a good buddy of mine was right near me on the 18 mile march and was going to drop out and so I took his gun for him so he could finish it and get credit because if he droped [sic] out he would have to start over again in three days and as long as he only had seven more miles to go, I know I wouldn’t want to do it over again. Well [D]arling I got [sic] to go out again tomorrow night again so I guess it will be no better. Gee I miss you so much and can’t do
[Page 4]
much about it. I wish this darn war would end so I could go home. Well [D]arling I guess I’ll have to say good-night [sic] now and [D]arling I love you very much. As Ever
Howard
P.S. I got your letter today, (the long one I mean).
