Hi [D]arling
I love you [D]arling and I hope you still do. I feel a lot better to now [sic] that I had a good nap. In the letter to-day [sic] you seem discourage[d] whith [sic] life. I don’t blame you much though. I haven’t been writing and I’ll take most of the blame. I went and saw my buddy Siragusa (Tony for short) and he [is] O.K. so far. He’s the one that’s in the hospital now. I brought his book that he’s reading.

[Page 2]

You ought to see the weather we’re having down here now. It’s so warm down here all the fellows are going out with only the shirts on and the girls go around with sweats and skirts but me. I got a cold and in this warm weather it [is] terrible. As I told you in my last letter I will send the money around the fifth of the month. The money is in safe keeping don’t worry and I don’t gamble either. I don’t gamble so much as you do. One thing your [sic]

[Page 3]

taking an awful chance if you marry me. I might beat you and everything. You wouldn’t want that would you? I’m only fooling [D]arling. I wouldn’t even think of beating you. I love you too much. Well [D]arling the war is going to be over pretty soon so I’ll be back before many more years. Well [D]arling this is going to be a short letter so I guess I’ll close now. Lots of love
Howard
