Hello [D]arling
How are you to-day [sic]? I’m sorry that I haven’t written more often but I haven’t been feeling good at all since I came out of the hospital. I sent my watch back so you out [ought] to get it soon. I’m not mad anymore about you going to the dance so don’t think I am. My buddy is in the hospital now so I guess I’ll
[Page 2]
go and see him even though I don’t feel like it but I knew know how it feel[s] to be there and not have any body [sic] to come and see you. I haven’t sent the money yet but I’ll send it about the fifth of the month. I can’t get to a post office at around here very often. and And I don’t want to put it in an
[Page 3]
envelope. Honey I love you so much that I wish I could go home and I [have] just been back here about a month. Last night there was a big party in the barracks. [A] couple of the guys went to town and bought a gallon of [illegible deletion] [illegible deletion] corn licks an[d] all the guys up here were drunk and I was trying to sleep, but about every half hour they would
[Page 4]
come and wake me up. Ah well I guess we all have our troubles. Well [D]arling I guess the war will be over before I get gray hair and then we can get married if you still want to. I know I still do. Well I guess I’ll close now so goodnight for now. [E]xcuse the writing I’m writing by moonlight. Love
Howard
P.S. I love you.
