Hi [D]arling
How’s everything with you? Well I’m still a clerk and I haven’t had a rating yet but don’t be surprised if I make one this week. I had a nice long talk with the captain and he has sent my name in for Corporal. Well so much for that. I went to the show to-night [sic] and it was a good picture. [T]he name was The Glass Ball or something like that. Well the boy just got off guard and there’s a lot of stories going around of how many guys that they took to the

guard house. [S]ome of them were funny. Well [D]arling I wish I was back home to-night [sic]. I had a nice dream about you last night and gee you seem so real that I almost fell out of bed when I went to reach for you. [illegible deletion] [D]arling I love you very much and I wish I could be with you but you know how that it is but I can dream can’t I? Darling you will have to wait quite a while before I get another furlough. I’m glad you got the watch and the money will be on it’s [sic] way about Tuesday of this week. I love you and I can’t think of much more to write just now and I don’t think your [sic] a German Spy. Lots of love
Howard
P.S. I love you.
