Hi Darling
How is everything back home? I got another letter from you today. Gee I wish I was there with you eating apple pie and ice cream. I wouldn’t be able to give up eating between meals because if I did that I would starve. You think your weather is bad up there well to-day [sic] on the firing line I was laying in mud about 3 inches deep trying to teach some dumb recruit how to fire the rifle. That [is] what I’ve been doing for the past two weeks. You want to add a couple of lines on that picture frame it goes like this: Corp. Sarty is
[Page 2]
where the the army is. Darling I didn’t know that Barbara had a baby until I read the letter from you. You see I’ve been too lousy to do any writing and I guess everybody else had has to. Well [D]arling I guess I have to close now it is now 11:45 at night and if I ever expect to get up at five I better get some sleep. I hope you can read my writing anyway. I love you and I hope someday we will be very happy. I love you, love you. OK well I guess I’ll close. Goodnight Darling
Howard
P.S. I love you.
