[The following is written on official United States Army stationary]

May 21, 1944

5:30 P.M.


Yve darling,

I love you so much gee I miss you to day [sic]. I got your double letter to day [sic] and gee I don’t know what to do. I wish I could see you, that would help a lot. I’m going to try to write to your dad to night [sic]. Darling I got a sunburn and it hurts to sit down on anything and I can’t lay down because I got it on my back too. My mother writes and she says that she hopes we’ll

be happy and I hope so to[o]. This is going to be short but I think I’ll have time to write to morrow [sic] morning becaus[e] down at the office where I used to be a clerk all the records seem to be mixed up and they want me to fix them up. I love you and I hope that you’ll be satisfied with me. The PY [?] closes early to night [sic] and I need some aper. I love you and always will. As Ever
