[The following is written on official United States Army Stationary]

May 20, 1944

10:30 P.M.


Hello Darling,

Gee darling I’m lonesome to night [sic] and wish I could see you just for a little while but I guess I can wait. I got a nice letter from you to-day [sic] and also one from my mother. Darling I don’t know what my ring size is because I’ve never bough[t] a ring. So Betty agrees with us about us getting married well she has to anyway because if she didn’t I’d get married any way. Well darling I’m getting

so I can sleep and eat again but its [sic] hard work. Yve. did I ever tell you that I Ioved you. Well I do and if you don’t beleive [sic] it I do what I did one day. Remember when I took you over my knees and [illegible deletion] well you didn’t dare sit down, well I always bid [?] enough to do it again. Well I got to go now it[‘s] getting late and I’m kind of tired to night [sic]. I love you and always will. As Ever
