Dearest darling wife,
Well hows [sic] my sweet little potato to night [sic]? Sho nough [sic] honey I loves [sic] you so darn much. You see I’m in the south now (South of Germany) but they don’t talk that way here. All kidding aside darling I love you so much that I can’t wait until I get home to see you but I guess I’ll have to. In the last letter I got from you, you wondered if I still love you as much as you love me. Honest darling I couldn’t love anyone but you and I cant [sic] live without you and I really mean it darling, cross my heart (up in my neck like [you?]).
[Page 2]
Gee Mommy I’m so darn lonesome for you. I wish you we’re [sic] here beside me right now and I gurantee [sic] you wouldn’t be left alone at all all or for at [illegible] two day. Gee I’m a beast aint [sic] I? In town where we are there’s a bunch of english [sic] prisoners of war and you ought to hear them they all want to go home I don’t blame them but so do I and they don’t let me. I ran out of Ink and had to get a refill. Well darling the lights have been going off and on again so I guess Ill [sic] have to quit for to night [sic] I love you my darling and I always will. Lot of love,
Howard
