Dearest darling Yve.,
I’m writing very poorly to-night [sic] but it can’t be helped. I got my right hand all bandage [sic] up. I got an infiction [sic] in my hand and for two days was pretty bad and could’nt [sic] write but its [sic] not too bad now but very uncomfortable. Well darling nothing now has been happening around here except we are getting ready to go home, which will probably be the middle of [Aug.?]
[Page 2]
or the first of september. I’m planning so much on it I’m afraid they might change their minds and not go. I do want to see you so very much darling and gosh thirty days. In answer to your [question?] “yes” I made combat Inf. [illegible deletion] and I’ll have a badge to prove it. I made it in february [sic] so norman [sic] has nothing on me. Just because I didn’t mention it does’nt [sic] mean I’m not [a?] combat Infantry man. Anyway I draw the $10 a month extra and if

you want more proof [I’ll bring?] the paper I got with it. I got a new combat blouse and it [sic] already to wear now. Well darling two days a go [sic] I had a nice job to do. A buddy and myself had to move or tell the people to move out of 15 houses so we [illegible deletion] could have a place. The Army of occupation took over the hotel, and gee the people didn’t like it, but what can you do orders are orders. Well darling I got to close now because its [sic] very

late. I would like to be with you right now. I just took a bath in a german [sic] bath tub and feel so nice and clean. I love you my darling and gee I miss you. As Ever,
Howard
