Darling:
I just got those two letters that you mailed in the same envelope and you seem more discouraged than I am. Anyway darling keep your chin up this war can’t last for ever [sic] anyway I don’t think so. Maybe you don’t think its [sic] hard for me to spend every holiday we’ve had in the army instead of home with you where I should’ve but what can I do.
[page 2]
Well darling to day [sic] we had a review of a lot of training that [sic] been going on for the last six or seven months and it was kind of dry. Then we came in from the feild [sic] and had to go to a movie for two hours to night [sic] to see some training films and you know how dry they can be. We had a lot of fun last night. We went out black out [sic] driving and came back with one one man getting hurt that was because he
[page 3]
hit a tree. Now getting to the humorous side of life in the army. My buddy Ted had his picture taken and when he went to have them taken he had very other tooth out so he wh when he went to see the proof he told them to put the teeth in well they did all but one and that [sic] hanging on the wall to keep the mice out. Well Mrs. Howard L Sarty I still love you and please be a little more cheerful
[page 4]
because when I hear that your [sic] unhappy it makes me feel that much worse. I love you and don’t ever forget it. As Ever
Howard

I think your [sic] really swell (no kidding)
