Dear Yve,
Well how’s everything with you way back home? Everything down here is fine except I get homesick. I’m sitting out here in the woods waiting for the general to make up his mind what we’re going to do next. Its [sic] a very beautiful day too and I just got back from the little brook where I went swimming and no bathing suit either. I got your letter saying you are going to send the box and also the I.O.U. and I think I’ll pay that one and the sooner the better. I haven’t written home for quite a while so I’ll make this short and write Mom a note to let her know I’m still alive. I’m so darn mad because we we’re [sic] supposed to have a rest period and could go to town but they changed that and we spend it out in the field working.
[Page 2]
Its [sic] not that I wanted to go to town so bad, it [is] just that they never can make up their mind.
One hour later
Darling we just had chow and now I guess they decided to move to another area so I’ll have to stop. Darling I love you so much though and I wish I could be with you. I keep dreaming of you every night. It seems that I can’t get you off [of] my mind at all. I love you and must close now. As Ever,
Howard
[The following was included as a postscript]
P.S. I love you just the same darling.
[Page 3]
Here is the other sheet of paper that came with that envelope. I love you. I love you more all the time. I love you,
Howard
