Yve [D]arling:
Well I just got back from the dentist and he said I would get my teeth before New Years. Gee I hope I get them anyway. Darling I think I [am] going to go on another march Sat. so don’t blame me if I don’t write that day. I just finished reading the menue [sic] for [T]hanksgiving dinner and it’s almost as good as the one I’m supposed to have in Louisville. Gee I wish I could have Thanksgiving dinner with you but I guess I have

to take what they give me. Things look a little brighter down here although it’s rained for about a week with out [sic] stopping and I think maybe I’ll get a furlough. Don’t plan on it to [sic] much because I’m not. I thought last week I was going to get one and look what happened. What’s the matter Yve are you mad at me or what? I haven’t had a letter from you in a couple days and I started to wonder if you loved me or not. I wish I knew. You think its [sic] hard to stay home and if you only knew how hard it was down here you would feel different.
[Page 3]
I got letters from everybody to-day [sic] except you and and I always look for your letters so I can read it first but not to-day [sic]. Darling I love you and I want you to be my wife if I ever get out of the war alive so please don’t get mad at me. The radio is playing I [L]ove [Y]ou [T]rudy at the present and I wish I was home. Darling I met a guy down here that plays the organ and is he good. He used to play in some high church in Chicago. I’m going and listen to him play at least a couple times. [Y]ou don’t mind do you? [A]nyway nobody can play better than you. Well [D]arling I hope you still love me when I get back. Lots of love
Howard
P.S. I’m crazy ain’t [sic] I?
