Hi [D]arling:
Well here it is Christmas and I got your card and it’s swell. It’s been raining for the past three days and I feel lousy if you knew what I mean. Gee I miss you [D]arling and I hope this war gets over with in a hurry so I can go home and we can get married. I’m getting sick of living
[Page 2]
a simple life. Well I had a beautiful Christmas. I walked guard for twenty four hours and had a turkey dinner. The dinner was good. Darling I really felt bad [C]hristmas [E]ve. [Y]ou see on guard we walk[ed] two hrs. and were off four, but we can’t leave the guard house. So I asked the I was lying on the bunk listening to the radio and it was all
[Page 3]
about [C]hristmas. [I]t really made me feel bad so I asked the officer of the day if I could go to the church. [T]hey were having services every hr. I [S]o I went at twelve o’clock. Don’t laugh at me [D]arling. [Y]ou don’t know what it means to be a long ways from the ones you love. If you asked any one of the boys down here they
[Page 4]
might not tell you, but from the way I see them I know they all feel like I do. Well [D]arling so much for that. I guess I’m boring you with my troubles so I better quit for to night [sic]. Darling don’t think for one minute I don’t love you because now I couldn’t live with out [sic] you. I love you [D]arling. I’ll always love you.
Howard
P.S. [T]he last letter I got for me you was your card [sic]? I guess there’s a holdup in the mail.
