Hello Darling:
Its [sic] me again and its [sic] so darn cold here I need you to warm me up. We went out on [illegible] Saturday morning and won’t come back til next [S]unday. I guess its [sic] looks like they are going to try to freeze us. The temperature is only 0° down here to day [sic] and I hope its [sic] a little warmer to morrow [sic]. You ought to see me now. I [am] sitting so close to the fire that my shoes are burning and my back is freezing and all the light to see by comes from the fire. Gee [D]arling let’s hope this war ends soon.
[Page 2]
Darling I got that other Valentine you sent and along with it I got the information on U.S. Armed Forces [I]institute but I haven’t had time to even read it yet. It seems that we spend most of our time in the field and I’m lucky to get time to write, but [D]arling I see it to-morrow and I bet you know if I com [sic]. Gee [D]arling I’m so lonesome down here all by myself. I wish I could see you even if it was only for a few minutes. Well [D]arling I got to close now because we’ve got a big day ahead and I’ve got to turn now and warm my back a little before storming in. I love you [D]arling and I would of [sic] sent you a valentine but you can’t get them in the woods. I love you. As ever
