The Ghosts of Concordia

This section highlights the ghosts of Concordia, particularly those supposedly found in Fjelstad Hall, Old Main, the Frances Frazier Comstock Theatre, and Hoyum Hall. This exhibit section was curated by Sydney Brewer.

As an older campus, it isn't surprising that Concordia College is home to some ghost stories. There are dozens of names and stories, and a recent psychic visiting campus even claimed there were hundreds. Because Concordia is always growing and changing, many of these ghosts are no longer well-known, or known at all. Now, only four stories are still told.

Each ghost resides in a different building and only one has a definitive tie to the school. There are three female ghosts, all ex-students, and one male, whose exact relation to the school is unknown, or perhaps doesn't exist at all. Of the three females, only the ghost of Fjelstad, Dolorita Larson, has any information that proves she even existed. The other two have lost any definite details, as many ghosts do, and only the very base nature of their stories still exists, being passed form student to student every year.

Female ghosts almost always have a tragic story, such as committing suicide due to severe emotions like jealously or being scorned by a lover. Concordia's ghosts all meet this stereotype, even the male ghost who has no story himself. Male ghosts have far less of a stigma attached to their cause of death, and his lack of cause or even care about it shows this trend.
