Bishop Whipple Hall

Bishop Whipple Hall is the oldest building on Concordia’s campus. Built in 1882 for the newly established Bishop Whipple Academy, the school failed to draw sufficient enrollment and closed. The Northwestern Lutheran College Association, the founding organization of Concordia College, purchased the building in 1891. Over the years the building has been used as student dormitories, offices, and classrooms and has been referred to as Main Building, Ladies Hall, and Grose Hall. In 1963, it adopted its final name Bishop Whipple Hall.
